Practical Holiness

The Motivation for Holiness

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23   “ My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” 1 John 2:1 The Bible calls followers of Christ to a life of holiness.

In order to obey this biblical command, we must understand the relationship between the human relationship and sin. We can overcome the power of sin through the gift of the Holy Ghost dwelling in our life. The power of the Holy Ghost does not destroy the law of sin, but it gives the born again believer the power to overcome it. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” Philippians 4:13 The born again believer can live above the power of sin.

The power of the Holy Ghost working in the believer supersedes the law of sin. "1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." Romans 6:1-4
